All About Pocket Knives

Just when I think I know that 2+2=3 I find out it really don't

While bidding on a Case Scout knife I couldn't tell what the handles were so I asked. The answer I got back was that they were delrin and if they were bone the tang would show the beginning number as 6. OK I'm not the brightest one for sure but If I know what I think I do delrin and bone both go by the number 6??

So I point this out to the guy and he kindly sends me a picture of the tang *see attached. Please help me figure this one out. From what I thought the 3 would make it a yellow synthetic??

I'm just confused and any help in educating me would be much appreciated.

As far as I know you are 100% correct. I'm not much on the newer knives but 6=delrin/bone. 3=yellow.

On some models 6 can mean paakawood as well. The 6217 patterns from the 70's are all paakawood.

Yea I only recently learned that one when I bought an Elephant Toenail....always something new If only I could remember it once I learned it. Still don't know about that Scout knife though.
