All About Pocket Knives

Somebody's post gave me the idea, when they posted the oldest pocket knife they own, got me to thinking, so here is the question, and I want to see photos, WHAT IS THE OLDEST KNIFE YOU OWN???
Now we could go a couple categories, fixed blade and folders, or just in general, doesn't matter. As for me, I think this may be my oldest one I have, this was a knife given to me from my Grandfather, as the story goes, he found it in the wall of an old house he was tearing down, after researching here and Mr. Levine, it looks like this would be a Staskniv from Norway, or scandanavian region. I know its old, how old is hard to say, I will have to dig through my folders and post one of those as well!

Here's mine. Schrade Cut Co. Lobster. Supposedly made in the 20's and 30's. It was my Grandpa's.

Doctor's knife, 1840.

Mine is a CF Wolfertz and Co. Barlow made between 1862 and 1873 in Allentown Pa.

I'd have to say my oldest knife is this Case Tested Greenbone Clasp.

Nope correction, this Sheffield pre-dates the Clasp, around 1900.

I was told by a most knowledgeable man that it's greenbone. Second cut stag and jigged bone look an awful lot alike (well, because they are both bone) so I took it to a show with me one time and that was the consensus, greenbone.

Did you choose the name for the pattern? I happen to love stockman patterns, just about all of them!

i dom't have a positive date.....but it's older than me.(and i feel old today) made at the original shatt factory.

Rodgers, pre 1830. Probably George IV (1820-1830) Certainly one of the Georges, either III or IV. Alas, no longer mine!

I've got an old Rodgers small pen, somewhere. I'll hunt it up just as soon as the sun comes up and do a pic. or two- our nightime is your daytime so you have to be a little patient...We're down under, you know!

Wouldn't it be great to come up with the oldest knife belonging to a forum member!

Here's an oldie. Levine says 100 yrs old, Mediteranean.
I run into a fella a F&I War weapons show who had a similar knife and he said over 200. Who knows? (SHRUG)
The bone is deteriorated to some degree.

Not all that old these... Tortoise Shell Rodgers, #6 Norfolk St. but no Royal Warrant so some time prior to 1901 (late Victorian), small Rodgers Pen Edwardian, probably Edward VII but still has Warrant and #6 Norfolk St. so it could be early George V. (about 1910 or so?). Silver Dollar 1972, Translucent Arkansas, given as a gift with a knife purchase, about 1958, still wish he had given me the bigger stone! Cheers.

My trusty Case tomato knife

It was funny when I received my brother-in-law's collection after he passed away I actually found the receipt for this knife amongst all the others. I can't for the life of me remember when or why he gave it to me but it has been the best little knife in the kitchen.....He gave me a very large Wustoff set as well but I still like my little Case tomato knife

AMEN, to that little Case mater knife ! It'll slice a tomato so thin, it's only got one side !

i have a camillus 4 line coke bottle with ebony handles and match striker pull with the ring on the end. i will take some pics and post them soon. sorry not such a great pic but my other camera is broke.

What a very neat little thread. Thanks for sharing the pics. I'm goin to my stash to see what I have. I am however quite sure I don't have anything that will resemble this string of collectibles. Wow!

NOW, that is something I would like to see again. After handling GEC's Bocote wood knives, I'd like to see a line of ebony handled knives come out soon.
