All About Pocket Knives

.....I told you I've began collecting some old Imperial knives? They're not anything of any real value, probably never will be, but I find some of them quite interesting.
My budget right now won't allow me to concentrate on the fine items I see posted here and I absolutely drool over some of what I've seen posted....so, I figured, what the hey?

I've bought several older solid bolster, solid celluliod handled Imperials on e-bay recently, along with several hawkbills of different brands. It keeps my knife interest going and doesn't strain the pocketbook much....and it keeps the wife off my case, too. The mailman brought one today. Bought it for .99 cents. Really gunked up, but nice black and gold flecked handles. The bolsters buffed up really nice as did the blades. With a little....no, make that a LOT of WD-40 flooding it, then the air compressor blowing if off, then a drop or two of oil, the blades actually have pretty good snap.

The pinched on blosters don't do much for me, but I've got some of them too. Might make an interesting wall mount collection sometime.

I know....I know....but, at least they aren't Chinese!

If your a dummy then I am too. I love the old Hammers and Imperials and I have quite a few of them. I like the switchblades the best though. I have quite a few of the mini Hammers too. I like the colorful handles.

Dang....that SWEET! I love the original advertisement display. Where in the world did you ever find something like that....much less all those gorgeous knives?

I would say if you want to get Imperials, by all means colelct Imperials! Nothing wrong with Imperials at all, I have a few in my collection as well!
As long as you are happy with what you are collecting, it really doesn't matter what others think...(unless it's Chinese!!!)
Of course that is my opinion!

Well, thats not an original card. A few were reproduced a while back and I was lucky enough to get one. They are not going to make any more. As for the knives, I've picked them up here and there. I have been collecting them for several years.

I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of.

I collect Imperials. In fact, I have alot of the stamped shell handle Imperials. They probably will never amount to much value-wise, but they really made some nice sheet cell patterns. Also, the price point is good on these, usually a nice one for under $10.

I have a few of the solid handle/bolster Imperials, but the ones I usually acquire are pretty well used on the blades. So much so that the blade profiles end up getting lost.

I don't think your dumb to collect them at all. I have a few in my collection too. I am the same boat as you financially speaking. They produced a good, cheap American made knife.


Go for it, but can you wait till after I get a few more please...

I don't think your are giving yourself credit dewman. I collect anything and everything. I just wish I'd collected a few Edsels along the way. I can remember Red Skelton making fun of them live on his tv show. But I figure any knife is worth collecting as it will be worth something to someone someday. The only pocket knives I don't care to collect are from Pakistan, India, and China. But my friend collects those and I wouldn't call him a dummy, maybe uninformed? He likes his knives and I like looking at his collection. He likes to look at my knives too. He gave me a knife made in China and I will keep it as a keepsake. I don't think knife collecting is for dummies.
