1967 Bowie mint box and papers

This was a gift from my parents this year for Christmas! Western Bowie in the original box, all the papers, cardboard sleeve for the blade, and original sales receipt dated December 1967! Never sharpened no rust or water damage to the box. I'm about speechless!

Hahaaha! I had an email from one of the former Western employees I'm acquainted with before I received the notification of a new post in the Western forum!

He said he thinks your knife was probably one of the last ones made with the small rivets: there was apparently a short transition period where the use of small rivets on the handles overlapped with the new "hanger" sheath. From what he's said in the past, those rivets will come loose if you throw the knife a lot, so be careful about that! Per his best recollection it was probably made the summer of '67.

That is a seriously nice knife, I don't think I've ever seen a nicer one!

Jim thank you so much! I was hoping you'd see this. I can assure you this one won't get thrown by me! It'll live a life of leisure.

I was pretty sure I was getting this for Christmas. My daddy bought it back earlier this year at an estate auction for a whole $30. Ever so often he'd mention it to me and is start slobbering every time. Lol. It's a very special gift for sure.

Thank you again for the information.

Thank you Wayne! I guess one of the things that floored me the most was having the original receipt! I'm right proud to be it's custodian for awhile. Eventually one of the boys will inherit it.

Found mention of an Almart store in Albany NY. A little more research shows Almart out of NYC on a list of defunct department stores.

That old Bowie sure did some traveling. Great, no GREAT knife.

Thanks guys. That wasn't the only knife I got for Christmas as everybody knows I'm a knife addict. But it's real special. I'm right proud of it.
