I haven't used the Hoppes brand but I do regularly use a silicone cloth to wipe my knives after handling. I kind of alternate between a chamois and a silicone cloth.

I spoke with an engineer at Case on a subject related to rust, carbon pops and spiders on high carbon blades and he suggested silicone wipes. I also use a silicone wax after I clean them up and most times fingerprints don't show but when they do I wipe with chamois skin.
