All About Pocket Knives

Thought I would put to the experts to weigh in on this one. Bought driving in a car on impulse (not something I do often) and later starting getting a nervous feeling since I have never had a jack Knife Ben in my hands and seemed to be more like a Parker thing vs a Cattle Knife.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Complete fake. Blade grind/finish not right, tang stamp is modern. Sorry, JH

i too , seen that and almost clicked on it, and may have if not for the cell handles.

looked at it for a while just couldn't decide if fake or not , being rare stamp some what, anyway then a

toothpick just didn't add up but your covered buy ebay so all is good

Jacknifeben, question for you...the only Jack Knife Ben and Jack Knife Shop stamped knives that I have seen have all been either cattle patterns (small and large sizes) or premium stock knives (4")...did the original Jack Knife Ben have any other patterns made stamped with Jack Knife Ben or Jack Knife Shop?

There was some small Nutters for sure. Probably others.

These are all genuine Jack Knife Ben and Jack Knife Shop knives and razors from Union Stock Yards, Chicago. I had a good old friend that owned a Mack truck dealership and he told me about Jack Knife Ben. He also had trucks hauling livestock to Chicago about every day and got to know how Jack Knife Ben sold hundreds of knives and farmers would stock up on knives while in town selling their livestock. That was about 35 years ago and now I have quite a collection. The early knives were contracted by Napanoch, Winchester, and Robeson so they were top quality. Later Schrade made alot of them.

Ben..amazing collection. As rare as that mark is, it took a lot of dedication to put those together.

Did you see the Jack Knife Ben letter that sold on Ebay earlier this year? I posted it here on AAPK, probably in Knife Lore.

Back in about the mid 70's at a knife show, I saw a display knife (large two blade wood-handled jack) that had hung on display in the Jack Knife Shop (marked on the shield in the front handle).

Awesome collection. Was Jack Knife Ben and Jack Knife Shop a hardware company? What is a little history of this brand? I had never heard of them until I joined AAPK. Now I'm curious. Any info would be appreciated.

Go to the tool bar and google Jack Knife Ben Union Stock Yards Chicago and there all kinds of history on the old boy, starting before 1900.
