CASE HUNTER QUESTION

I HAVE A CASE XX HUNTER THAT IM CURIOUS ABOUT. THE TANG SAYS CASE XX (1940TO1964)BUT I CANT FIND ANY NUMBERS. IS EVERY ONE OF CASE'S KNIVES NUMBERED OR DID THIS ONE JUST WEAR OFF? WHICH ONE DO YOU THINK THIS ONE IS?

A lot of the early Case XX knives did not have pattern numbers stamped. Yours looks like a 5265SAB.

Are you sure there is no trace of a pattern number on the tang opposite the CASE XX stamp? Nice looking old hunter!

I USED A JEWELERS LOOP ON IT AND CAME UP WITH OUT A TRACE.

Tom is correct in that the transition to putting in the pattern number wasn't complete until the 50's. Nice old knife!

I just bought a nice old Case hunter in a pawnshop. Didn't see a number, but I just looked again under strong sunlight, and there is a trace of a number on the backside of the Case marked blade. Can't really make out the numbers, though. Neat, tight old knife.
