Great knife, I carried one for 10 years, but it was extremely hard to sharpen! I am now carrying a yellow handled Case Trapper with CV blades, great knife and is alot easier to sharpen! ftd

And they bite. Every time I do this I hear my high school woodwork teacher saying "fingers behind the blade son, fingers behind the blade". Will I ever learn?

Jerry, no offence taken at all, my hide is tougher than that.
Joe58, it is a very solid knife but a little softer in the springs than I am used to, especially the sheepsfoot blade. That said I look forward to using it.

TA, The 301 is a great place to start on a Buck collection (of users or sitters). My first Buck was a 301 over 40 years ago - still have it (and a few more). Once a knife bites you it owns you! OH

OH, in that case I have been owned by a number of knives. I have only two others, a 450 which is my go to knife around the house, and a 501 purchased at the LL Bean store in Tysons Corner VA in 2005 while on a visit to the USA to visit my son.
