All About Pocket Knives

OK...I just came across Northwoods Knives for the first time.

I see good comments around here about the Scagel reproductions and some good comments about the Northwoods line of knives.

Take me to school about Northwoods line, if you would. They look awful nice and seductively priced (especially the stag!).

Are they good? Who makes them? If Queen, is their D2 sharp out of the box? Users? Safe queens? Great deal? Too good to be true? etc...etc...

I thought I had my next couple knife purchases planned out...and WHAMMO ...Northwoods.

I have a couple,to the best of my knowledge Queen does at least producethe parts. Mine were wicked sharp out of the box and the stag is the best out today (better than Schatt's Series XV IMO).
I would recommend one or two.

Knives have Great Quality and at a very reasonable price. I also

have this Northwoods Scagel Reproduction and it's one of my all time

favorite Knives.

I have several Northwoods listed in my store. One stag large stockman. Two stag Slim Jacks, and two Impalla Slim Jacks. The Impala are jigged buffalo horn made to resemble impala horn. I also have three Scagel #8's left. The handles on these are laser cut and then sent to Queen for assembly. Northwoods doesn't have the exposure in the knife community yet, but there products are really quality made. I just became a dealer for them recently when I saw their product.

Marc, that pre-ban elephant ivory Scagel is awesome. I'm on the look out for one. Just gotta have it.

Actually forensic, browsing through the AAPK Sellers Sites, I found yours, and found Northwoods!

They are all beauties (the stag looks amazing) and the price is awesome. And D2!!

I have to rearrange my "to buy" list and put one (that Stag Half-Congress, Oh lordy!) way up high on it.

Forensic, expect some business from me when I get the list sorted out!

Is this Northwoods stuff new? Do you fellas think they have collector value...user value...or both?

Whatever...I gotta get me one!...that pearl stockman, the stag toothpick?

Nice knives...

IMO, both collector and user friendly because of the low runs and good quality materials.

Oh Yeah Baby !!! I am one of Northwoods biggest fans...Shhhh don't let my secret out.. The best material and steel being used by American knife makers but prices that are well below comparable knives, with Queen Cutlery doing the assembly and Northwoods doing the handles ...

I tell you what Sunburst...I got my first Schatt&Morgan last week and feel in love with it (and Schatt&Morgan) and a couple days ago I discovered and fell head over heels for Northwoods stag.

This is brutal! BRUTAL! Serving ONE of those mistresses would exceed my budget, BOTH...impossible.

I'm gonna have to start robbing banks.

Cause I ain't going back to living like I did in my college days years ago where I ate only Ramen noodles!

And if I do get caught robbing banks...I'm saying some guy on the internet named Sunburst made me do it.

I own 1 of the 50 Elephant Ivory Scagel Repros as pictured above, and I LOVE it !!!

Sunburst, I like that fixed blade/folder combo Is there a particular name for the pattern.

The northwoods' stag seems a 'cut' above many other modern stags and the ivory is fantastic Mitch. Thanks.

The knife doesn't have a specified name per say but it is a copy of an original Willam Scagel knife. It is simply called Scagel #6.

I agree Northwoods has about the best stag on the market today..

Here's the backside of the the two bladed fixed..And I also wanted to show that they make a pretty good looking jigged bone as well..

The Northwoods knives ARE excellent!! I had a double bladed, stag handled one. It was a beautiful, beautiful knife. I bought mine from Vintageknives.com. It was also wicked sharp. I can not say enough good things about it. It was also a very heavy knife too. You can't go wrong with one, in my opinion. I sold it at Blade '06.

I have the Rogers bone Scagel posted by Sunburst, in addition to a Northwoods small lockback with the same color bone. I believe they call it "Italian Bone" or something, but it's probably my favorite bone color of all, and the jigging they do is excellent. I'm planning on getting the Northwoods large stockmant in this same bone.

I agree they are excellent quality knives regardless of price, and the prices are pretty dang good!
