Can a broken spring be "rigged"?

I picked up this bartenders 2 blade knife with beautiful wood scales, made in Solingen Germany on the bay.
I was pretty dissappointed to discover the spring was broke.
I paid so little for the lot I don't want to bother the seller and send it back.
I certainly can't afford to have it professionally repeaired.
Can it be rigged in some way?

Short answer-no. Any repair is going to be too weak to withstand the pressure of the spring/ blade going through it's range of motion

yeah thats about it
only option is to find a similar knife with a good spring or bad blades/handles, and learn to do it yourself

Don't have the accomodations for it......knor the money!

Another happy addition to the bucket list....fit and temper my own backspring, someday. Got a quick and dirty tutorial on such, MM? Or anyone?
