All About Pocket Knives

I have a R4563 that my grandmother gave me after my grandfather passed away years ago. It is in pretty rough shape but I want to try my hand at restoring so I can carry it. The main (long) blade is broken in half. A few questions......
Are there any sources for replacement blades out there ?
Curious as to how these bolsters come apart?
Any idea of when this knife was made?
Any help would be great.

Ebay may be your best source for used parts. Just keep searching for Remington knives until you find the one you're looking for. You can post a want ad on this site and hope for the best.

I'm no Remington expert but think your knife may be from the 1930's. Pal bought out Remington in 1941 - maybe so likely before that?

Another thing you can do that sometimes produce a blade is to post in the Knife Mechanic's Swap Forum that you are looking for a Remington R4563 master blade.
I have a few old Remington blades, but most are small pen blades.

Did Pal continue using the Remington numbering system? I wonder if there might be a compatible Pal blade that would work for me.
