Remington pearl with unusual stamp

Anyone every seen a Remington with this stamp. It's got an "S" above the Remington on the main blade.
Never seen this.

According to Goins, it stands for stainless

Correct, and there should be another S below the tang stamp, although it's not visible in the picture.
They only did that the last couple years, 1938- 1940.
