All About Pocket Knives

For a few years I was really into collecting Case Russlocks. At one point I had about 75 Russlocks with different handles. Eventually, my tastes changed and I sold off most of them; however, I did hang onto a few of my favorites. Feeling a bit nostalgic today, so I thought I'd post up a few photos of some of my Russlocks that survived the sell-off. I hope there are some other collectors out there who have some cool Russlocks to show off.

Very nice-Especially like the horse shoe shield.

Just stock, nothing amazing. Someone here had one with a spear blade, I think. That was a cool knife. I like your bottom knife bark patterns

I had one. Traded it off for a bag of balls and a player to be named later.

Naaaah. I gave it away in one of the AAPK Roundtables. (Don't remember to whom.)

Sweet Stag & Mammoth Ivory Russlocks, Monk...two of my favorite handle materials (as you already know). I'll be posting a few more Russlock photos just as soon as it get's a bit lighter (it's only 5:30 am where I'm at and still a bit dark for taking photos and I prefer natural light.)

Jerry, I like the color of your (former) Russlock...what is that, Blue Lagoon? Has anyone ever counted how many different names Case has for all their different blue bone handles? There's Blue Lagoon, Carribbean Blue, Mediterranean Blue, Ocean Blue, Sky Blue, Blue Bone...and I'm sure I've forgotten a few others...more blues than a BB King concert (may he RIP).

One question I have for anyone who owns or has ever handled a Russlock: Is it really a "one hand" opening knife? I have severe crippling arthritis in my hands, so I've never been able to open a Russlock with one hand (hard enough with two sometimes)...but every time I show someone a Russlock, I ask them to try to open it with one hand and most cannot. The only guy I've ever actually seen do it is a 75 year old friend of mine (same guy who clears ancient trails and spears fish with the Spyderco Endura I gave him), but even for him it was a bit of a struggle.

If you look closely (top row and one in the bottom row), you will see some of the other Russlocks that I used to have in my collection but have since either sold or traded for other knives. At the time, it seemed like the right move either because I needed the money or my collecting tastes had changed, but looking at them now makes me wish I still had them. Oh well...circle of life, I suppose.

Thanks. Picked both of those up at Smoky Mountain Knifework two weeks ago.

My only Russlock;purchased at Lowe's when they were phasing out their knives.$17 in the box.

I have two. A clip point and drop point.

These are the only two I have.....right now.

Beautiful knives SC Knifeguy ! I had my eye on the 2013 NWTF russlock but I would be to tempted to use it.

I'm 65, I carry a Russlock as a edc. I like the drop point better. It took me some getting used to when I bought my first Russlock back in 2005, but it is a onehanded operation. You just have to learn to hold and use your thumb. I'm right handed and my bottom three fingers are pressing the edge of the scales against the pad below my thumb while my thumb flips the lever or blade curl. But arthritis would make it hard to do.
