just got a remington barlow in the mail from ebay. the listing said the main blade was slow! its got a BROKEN BACKSPRING! does anybody have a quick fix, without tearing it apart? i should send it back, but the seller wasnt honest and i hate to pay double shipping. when EBAY goes BAD im allways worried they will just keep my money! I THINK THE SELLER SHOULDNT BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR FEEDBACK YOU LEAVE UNTILL AFTER THEY LEAVE FEEDBACK! TO MANY SELLERS USE FEEDBACK AS A TOOL!

....and certainly less than forthcoming in his answer to the question asked. If I didn't like it, I'd send it back and demand he pay for the return shipping, and I certainly wouldn't worry about any negative feedback he left about you. He sounds like the one who should receive something less than positive feedback.

They do have that new star rating system that they cannot see, talks about how the item description was, shipping, etc etc.
On that 2nd picture, you can see the back spring poking up from the closed position.

The knife will have to be disassembled to be repaired. It looks to have decent blades and handles so a repair should be made to this knife. I'm sure I could find a decent bone handled jack with a shield to trade for it .

its not a bad knife, the blades arent really short. they have just been sharpened down a little. whats bad is that ive got a real nice remington barlow somewhere?, with blades removed. the seller emailed me back. he was rude. said he wasnt a knife exspert! DONT TAKE MUCH OF A EXSPERT TO SEE THAT THE BACKSPRINGS BROKEN! anyhow if you or mooseman wants to trade just post a picture. ive got about 31 bucks in it. i dont mind paying a little boot.

I wonder why the fellow/gal does not make it right with you? With almost 2000 sales now, I'd think the person would like to keep a perfect 100 % rating on ebay.

he said he would, but i dont want to fool with him! he was dishonest to begin with. how could you not know that it wasnt damaged even if you didnt know how to tell the backspring was broken! he says the blades fit tight! the main blade falls in and out of the frame just by turning it upside down. KEEP MESSING WITH SNAKES AND YOULL KEEP GETTING BIT! this is another ebay horror, about six months ago a won a greenbone tested 47 pattern. i gave about 175 for it. the woman sent me a camillus stockman! said she sent my knife to the other fella! ANYBODY WANT A 175 DOLLAR CAMILLUS? but i have got some great deals too! a few weeks ago i got a lot of 4 jacks, a dogleg challenge and valley forge that are nice and decent old challenge and a junker for 57 buck!

sorry to hear that rigwelder, it looks like a nice old knife. Not meaning to step on anyones toes here, but thought I'd just throw it out there for whoever ends up with the knife. I have a backspring I believe will fit the knife, It came out of a junker barlow, can't remember the brand though.

OK , how about this? Its a never used or sharpened Case XX 1 dot 06247PEN with bone handles and a blank shield. It has been in poor storage and has some rust spots on the blades with some pitting. Strong snap on both blades.

I will throw this out there also:
At one time and it may still be so; For $25 bucks eRip would remove Negs from "Power Sellers". If seller is a member of SquareTrade, they will do it also for a fee, I am not sure what it is now.
I S#@X Canned ST also, but that is a tale all of its own.

he said he didnt know it was broken, wasnt a knife exspert, ect.,,,ect! he knew it was broken. he just tried to let it slip by. luckly i only have 31 bucks in it.

thanks remington collector, the only case i collect is xx or older. i just dont get into the dot knives. theres just too many. what i like is just a decent old jack. handle material really doesnt matter. but i do likec a shield. just a decent 30 dollar knife will do. or you can throw a nice knife at me. id pay boot.

Here is what looks to be a Barlow like the one with the broken backspring. This has poor blades and might be a good backspring to use.
