All About Pocket Knives

Take a look at my latest ebay purchase. It's old, don't know how old but i'll try and date it when I get it in my hand. If anyone knows anything about these please give me info. It is a money clip with a knive on one side and nail file on the other.

I sold some insurance for that company many years back.
It was a part of Bankers Life back then.

I have 3 money clip knives, 2 are the Barlow B60 models, made in Japan.
I attached a photo of the three I have, the Hawkeyes and IPC are the B60's
the 3rd is a Imperial USA.
I also included the box which the Hawkeye one came in. I got all 3 of these in the mid 80's while I lived in Iowa.

those are nice SFC. Any idea of what they might be worth? and i'll be sure to let know where this one was made when I get it in . should be here in the next few days

I think SFC is spot on with his dated.
In the 1980s up until 1992 I ran a small chain of Smoke Shops (cigars, pipes & gentleman's gift items) we had one store that was primarily cutlery. We carried the Barlow line of money clips, belt buckles & a few knives. They were usually represented in the Gift Shows & represented by salesmen of the Gift Industry. I am unaware of any connection to the cutlery industry. I think most of their line was made in Japan. In that time frame Japan was producing some very good quality knives. These were better quality than a lot of the stuff on the market then.

Moneyclips are a cool and personal thing, IMO. Those with gentleman's goodies are double cool, thanks for sharing those.

I have a couple that have a panel of Joel Davis damascus (well, pattern-welded steel) on them. I haven't carried them, just picked them up to use as gifts someday.....

Unless made of precious metal, The real value of these lie in the using.
IMO they help preserve your sciatic nerve health. With one of these and a card case to be carried in your front pocket, you can rid yourself of the
usual hip pocket wallet.

The Moss is so right!
I started carrying my money in my left front pocket in the Marine Corps for security reasons, (having had my wallet lifted once when on liberty in the weird exotic port of LA).
After I was discharged I went back to using the wallet to carry my money. I started using money clips in earnest about after a back injury and a doctor told me to get rid if my big fat wallet.

As far as the back issue, I had a chiropractor tell me that before, she had me pull out my wallet and said how thick do you think that is? About an inch... so every time you sit down there is a one inch deviation in your hips. The only caution would be don't take them to the Airport!

Now about the knives!
As far as a value on them, I skimmed through a few books, and found nothing relating to money clip knives, but on E-Bay looks like they average $5-$20. I saw a couple that had diamonds and such in them, hit the $50 dollar range. So they are not a rare item, and are pretty common in the market as of now.

I'm down with the front pocket carry...

I have a front pocket spring loaded moneyclip/card case to relieve sitting on it...even though I rarely have any cash to keep in it, as my wife keeps cutting my allowance.

Nice looking moneyclip/card case with sting ray leather. I don't know why, but the Japanese think that the thicker white sliver in the center is highy regarded as the best part of the skin. For some reason it is highly sought after. On some tanto's that have sting ray skin leather under a cord wrap, they will use that part as the Menuki, on top of the ray leather but under the cord wrap, some say to help with the placement of the hand on the handle. Some Menuki can be elaborate brass or other ornamental metals. Just happened to watch a cord wrapping DVD last week.
