All About Pocket Knives

Does anyone know anything about Great Eastern having an open house in July? If so, how many of you are gonna make it. If you do go, take your camera 'cause I wont be able to go

I haven't heard of an open house, but I will be talking to them on Friday, I will ask, Although I won't be able to go either.

I'm on vacation the 3rd week of July, I'd like to go up and check them out.

YES GEC is having a wonderful open house the same time as the Queen Show. I strongly suggest that you attend and see what I saw. A great opprotunity to view first hand the knife making process. The factory is set up perfect for this. Look at my old post with photos taken at the plant. I had a great time.

I was told that no GEC knives would be allowed at the Queen show by a GEC dealer. GEC had been singled out by Queen for some reason. So, what I heard is that GEC is the only knife that is "banned" at the Queen show.

Don't know, but I figure there must be some bad blood there. Bill Howard, president and part owner of GEC worked at Queen 30 years I think. Bill also hired a couple people away from Queen.

I also bought 2 Queen Mountain Man knives in 1095 steel and I bought 2 single blade GEC beavertails and I rated the GEC knives much higher. The backspring of the Queen was much weaker than the GEC knives. The GEC had the walk and talk. These were the first 2 Queens I bought and I was a bit disappointed after handling so many GEC knives.
So, it may be interesting to see how this plays out.

You are exactly right Sunburst and it's a Damn Cryin Shame!

Yes we are having our open house on July 27 and July 28th.

I think the hours are 8:30 to 2.

If you cannot make it then remember GEC is open to the public every working day.

I have no comments about the knife factory up the road.
