All About Pocket Knives

Well I must be crazy. I have never anything like this apart before! It looks to be a Vietnam era MC-1 paratrooper's knife. It had the bright orange handles, switchblade main blade and a cord cutter. Well I got it for free so what the heck, right? The cord cutter was broke off of it. The blade wobbled real bad and did not want to lock up. Perfect for a mod! So I cut the pins and started to tear into it. After removing the broken cord cutter I started on the handles. For me this was the hard part! The side with the push button and slide lock that is. The other side was straight forward. For handle scales I chose Manzanita. After all the cutting and drilling was done I cleaned up the push button and slide. Tightened up the lock and took the wobble out of the blade and it was time to assemble! I glued and pinned it all together. Did the final shaping and sanding. When all is said and done I think it turned nice! Thanks for looking!

Looks good . did you use both outside liners and get rid of that one that divides the 2 blades originaly or straighten the dividing/center liner ? if I recall it has a bend in it for the shroud cutter

The best way to answer that is with a pic. The outside liner next to the cutter is flat on this one. Thanks for the Question Wiseguy. Here is a pic of the parts I discarded. Randy

Ah i see .... so that's the center liner going goodbye . were you able to use the existing blade bushing or make a new one ?

Wiseguy I never removed the bushing. The liners are just the way I found them. The liner in the pic is the outside liner that held the scale on the cutter side.

Thank you! I had never seen the inside of one these before. My understanding is these were made by Shcrade and another company as well as Camillus. Perhaps that's difference?

Bingo !! i thought i was having a senior moment so i pulled one out the case .....It`s the S.Walden model that has a kink in the center liner the center liner would require straightening to look good if used

That Amboyna burl wood must have been real sweet looking!
