can anybody give me an idea what these are?

Can anybody give me any info on these knives.I picked them both up at auction and I just wanted to see if they are worth anything before I decide what to do with them.I usually only buy folding knives,the one with the homemade handle came with a box of fishing lures and I just liked the looks of the other one.

the non-xll is a joseph allen & sons. shefield, eng. 1886-1947. from levines 3
don't know about the other one.

Johnnie is right.
Goin's says that the NON-XLL trademark was purchased by Joseph Allen from Unwin & Rodgers in 1884.
It is an intriguing knife. I would like to see that one in person. Perhaps Smiling-Knife can tell us something about it as he is a collector of Sheffield Knives & lives in the UK.

Thanks for the replies,guys.I've been lurking around for a couple of months and i've come across a lot of useful info.The handle on the non xll is obviously changed,what should it have and would it be worth the expense to put something closer to original on it.I'm not to familiar with fixed blades,most of what I have are folders,with quite a few of those being Case.Justold52,there was a Creek Chub,I think it's a small Pikey,in the box but it's missing the hook on the back.Other than that it's just junk,the knife was in a USN sheath,I was surprised when I pulled it out and saw what looked to be a pretty good blade.

Welcome to the forum. I haven't seen one of those before. Nice. Looks like it could be cleaned up and used.

beau5278. I don't have too much to add. It looks like someone made a real mess of that knife
. Even if you removed that odd handle, it looks like the blade is ruined by the rivit hole. A shame really. I image that it once had a stag handle perhaps. Oh well.

looks like they replaced the handle with molded JB weld. The down home fix all

No,I'm pretty sure it's wood,I just don't know why they made it as big as they did.Smiling-knife,I hadn't even thought about the rivet hole.I guess it's not going to hurt anything if I take the handle off to see what it looks like underneath.

I agree. You or one of the talented individuals here might still make something of it. I am interested to see the blade once the handle is removed if you don't mind posting a pic. There is pobably a hidden tang stamp under there.

Well,the suspense is over
.I took the handle off of the Non XLL tonight and the blade was snapped off about 1/4in behind the second rivet,it looks like there may be just 1/32 or so of the tang left,but no stamps or anything,pretty much just an old broken blade.
