Did you keep track of the hours on this piece?

No I could not count the hours. I worked on it fairly steady at the wood shop at my seniors center between volunteering in the kitchen. After some six weeks it turned into some 3 months total. It is about 30 inches wide. The first challenge was finding pictures to study and reference. Then working out all the depths of cuts for the figures and arms too extend in front of the next figure. I used every thing I had, mallet tools, detail palm tools and rotary flex shaft carvers, and a 30,000 RPM micro carver. Another man did the final sanding and finish and mounted it in the lobby of his church in Holland, Michigan.

I used scrap oak from a church to make a large rolling easel to be able to move it and change the angles to work on the details as needed. By the way, the wood shop is 40 X 80 feet with air and a break room and full dust collection at the power tools. It now has 4 lathes for segmented bowl making and some of the guy's have gotten very good. Bob

Um, mrwatch ... I think you have too much time on your hands. Didn't even think something like this was possible. When I saw this forum title "Whittling and Wood Carving", I was expecting to see pictures of carved out wooden sticks, not The Last Supper. Incredible!!!
