Western Folding Hunter Restoration

Last year at the OKCA show I bought a Western folding hunter that was missing the rear handle. The front handle was cracked.
I looked for bone to match the original handle, but I knew I would not find an exact match.
I took the knife apart and polished the inside and the tops of the springs, installed the new bone and inlaid and pinned the original shield.
While not an exact match, I think the bone looks good.
As always I appreciate your feedback.

I think it turned out very nice Dale. Even if you jigged your own bone it would be hard to duplicate the original. Its came out very well. Adds character IMHO

Dale is that Culpepper's RJB and what color is it? I like it.
Nice job. Now you can sell it for Eugene or ditwtexas prices.

It was Culpepper's bone; the Richmond jigging pattern and the Sunset color.
Don't I wish I could get the prices ditwtexas asks for his knives!
If ditwtexas was selling it there would be a long story about a rare and valuable Western brought back to life by a disabled Vietnam veteran,
AND a $400 price tag!
I couldn't do that, I have to look in the mirror to everyday to comb my few remaining hairs.

Just saw this...being a huge Western fan and a Folding Hunter Fan...you got my attention...that turned out to be a beauty! Very Nice

You are right! And if you think it looks good, you ought to hold it in your hand! Dale's work is amazing. Holding it you have to turn it over a couple of times and look close to tell which side has been replaced and which side is original.
