All About Pocket Knives

Here is a 6" bowie hunter, with owner's name etched on bade, and gorgeous stag flat ground hunter, a stag on stag and a stag butt small knife, a pretty stainless stag small knife but not a true outers, and a rare cocobolo handled hunter with a fish scaler back and a compass in the butt.

Here are two "Featherweight" models, their markings, and a salesman's sample flat ground 5' bowie hunter.

A pair of floating fishing knives, and a sweet bolstered hunter. I have a couple of these bolstered Catts, each with different Catt tang or ricasso stamps, and one unmarked one.

A ratty "Nabob", then one of the sweetest, coolest hunting knives I have ever seen, with retailer's name etched on blade. A fairly common skinner type, and a really wild wide blade beauty. If anybody knows where I could get nice examples of any but the more common one please let me know.

A fish knife with inch increments stamped in the blade, and in the pommel is a spring loaded scale so you can actually weigh your fish with your knife!! I also have one without the inch marks on the blade. Last but not least is the beautiful "Antarctic Special", so etched on the blade. These appear in the 1940 and 1941 catalogs, if anybody has evidence that this model was made or sold after the war please let me know. This model came out after Byrd Expedition 2 which was in 1938. The above knives all have oil on the blades which makes them look a little dull, but with the exception of the Nabob they are pretty much near mint knives, and some of the best in my collection.

Some awesome old Catts there! Hard to choose which is my favorite. I've never seen that Featherweight marked handle before.

A beautiful collection of knives! Thank you for posting them. My Cattaraugus collection consists mainly of a 225Q;a couple of folders,and some kitchen knives and cleavers. Interesting knife the Featherweight;I have a KA-BAR with the blade blade similarly cut out and a cork handle.The cut out on mine is symmetrical though rather than following the shape of the blade.

I'm late to reply, but what a great collection!! I had no idea some of those models existed, thank you for sharing!
