All About Pocket Knives

I picked this knife up at the last knife show I went to. I don't have a clue as to what you call these bone handles. It's kind of pretty, with a mottled look to it.

During that time it was just called "bone". Although Case started with the Smooth Rose and Appaloosa bone in 1979. They really didn't start coming up with all of the current, wild colors until the 90's. I deal in a lot of new Case knives and have trouble identifying some of the current colors.

Greenbone is the closest thing I can think of. This brownish color bone is usually done using potassium permanganate dye. This dye can produce many shades of brown depending on concentration and exposure time, from very dark, almost purple to light tan with red or green tones. It also can in time turn from just brown to brown with red or green accents in the lighter spots. Put the knife under a UV light source(a blacklight), I'd bet it turns a nice shade of chartreuse green.
