There is an extensive article in Goins on page 287.

He dates the brand 1885 - 1926.

They were located right next door to Boker in New York City. Maybe they both met the same delivery truck in the alley.

They imported items from England and Germany.

Company owned by Robert Vom Cleff, Sr and Robert Vom Cleff Jr.

Goins does not mention any connection to the jewelers by the same name, Vom Cleff & Arpels.

That's a pretty knife and a great pattern. Congress whittlers are somewhat rare and I suspect a majority of them were of German origin.

I think it's pressed stag.It seems too rounded to be jigged and too uniform across the different makers styles I have seen to come from the wild. But,these are just personal observations. I have been told bone is probably too hard to soften??

I'm sorry. Ray has pointed out that the jeweler is a similar, but different name altogether.

As I told him, getting old is not for the aged.

Nice old knife, rare stamp, looks like in very good condition especially given its age. Thanks for showing it. Sorry I don't know anything about it to share, but I like it!

Here's a Vom Cleff that's a little different, simply marked V.C. & Co. A "Corn Knife".
