Just picked up this KA-BAR 1004 Trapper on eBay. Did nothing to it except rub it on my t-shirt a little (okay, more than a little).

That's a nice one. Very new looking. Clean. Was it dirty?

Redferd, no it was perfectly clean except the brass bolsters were a little dull. I shined them on my t-shirt--didn't even need Flitz or anything.
Actually, looking at the picture I posted today, on my screen the knife looks like almost a walnut color with nickel silver bolsters and pins. If you are familiar with the knife, you know it's actually a maple color (I don't know if the wood is maple) and the bolsters, liners and pins are brass. Guess I should change that picture.

But the photo does show the condition of the knife very well. It's 'way better than I thought it was when I bought it on eBay the other day.
Thanks, Johnnie. It's a perfect match to my old 1002 Linerlock that I bought some time in the late 70s. I'm looking for another one of those right now. I don't think I have experienced a tragedy, but I can't find the linerlock.

It must be around here somewhere. I hope I'm looking to buy a second one and not a replacement.

I already lost it once and got it back, but that's a story for another time.

That wood and brass really look good together!!

Good luck at finding your 1002 Linerlock. I'll keep an eye out for another one for you..
