Doctored Half Congress?????

Ok just bought one from eBay and it looks like to me it has had some work done to it. For what I paid for it I can make it an edc but considering I'm new would like for you guys to look at it and tell me if I am seeing something that is nothing OR if it is actually what I think.

Looks to me like there's some epoxy or something around one or more of the pins and looks like the handle has been painted, stained or something and there is still some on the bolster and one of the pins. As most of you know I am new at this so just wondering if I am seeing something that's not right or trying to look and expecting too much.

Either way I think it's a 1973 and like I said I didn't pay much for it so maybe it's a good lesson learned hopefully you guys can tell me. Thanks in advance, James

The knife looks ok to me. Looks like it has Delrin handles which are composite. I woukd say it would make a fine EDC. I like the pattern.

Thanks Tom I appreciate your help. Something just didn't look right to me so didn't know if I was making something out of nothing or not.

Knife is fine. In those days, Case would use a rivet spinner to spin down all of the handle pins. You are seeing the small circle from the spinning tool, and maybe some of the plastic "flash" around the holes.

Just wanted to share that I received this knife today and it is a much better looking knife than I thought it would be. While I know it's not a high price knife I am really happy with it because it is the oldest one I have and believe it or not I am really satisfied with it. Just goes to show pictures sometime mislead usually for the worse for me but this time I actually think the knife looks better in person than in the pictures.

Slomo, congrats on acquiring a nice knife. If you're happy with it that's all that counts. I think you'll find the quality on Case knives from that era (mid-1970's) and earlier was excellent (my experience anyway). Hope you enjoy it.
