So happy to be approved for this site. As someone said in one of the posts, all knives are good, even the bad ones LOL. I've been collecting for years and hope to learn from ya'll. But as a newbie, I'm utterly lost at the moment, so bear with me. Exploring the site and learning the rules. Really great to be here!

Welcome, Sharpyshack...We can never have too many members. I too have been collecting for many years but I am constantly learning new stuff from the good folks here at AAPK...not to mention the hours of sheer entertainment value it provides! (After 25 years, my sweet, patiente wife has pretty much reached her tolerance limit for anything more having to do with my knife obsession, so this site is my only outlet!

)
Cheers & Aloha,
~Q~

Welcome aboard Sharpy!
As an Administrator of AAPK I can assure you do have rules, sort of.
Basically it boils down to common sense and common courtesy.
However we are not heavy handed when it comes to enforcement.
If you post a topic in the wrong forum there is no hammer that comes out of your computer screen and smacks you upside your head.
We use a stick.
Just kiddin'.
Here is a condensed version of the rules:
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where “All About Pocket Knives” is hosted or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that “All About Pocket Knives” have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither “All About Pocket Knives” nor phpBB shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
The first sentence is most of the rules; basically play nice and everybody "happy, happy, happy!"
We have the reputation of being the friendliest knife forum on the web. We don't get upset with questions; so if you don't know something just ask. Many of us have brands with which we are more familiar with than others, for example I have done a lot of research on Schrade knives, most of which is posted in the Research Section (see link on the blue bar at the top of each page), but I know next to nothing about Case knives. We are fortunate to many folks here who are experts in Case including Steven Pfeiffer author of "Collecting Case Knives." There are not too many brands of knives you can name that we do not have one or two members with at least a good working knowledge of that brand. There in an incredible amount of cutlery knowledge that has been posted here in the archives of AAPK.
Welcome aboard!

TO orvet: How big is that stick? Funny...
Thanks for the official rules listing! But I meant to say rules that govern Boards. Never joined one before so don't know how it works. e.g.: to reply to a specific post, is there something to click inside a particular message, or only at the very bottom? Such things. I'm figuring it out and will try not to make you use the stick too often!

Welcome to AAPK.
If you want to reply to a specific post on a thread, it is often helpful to click the "Quote" button on that post you're replying to and then post below the quotation so that everyone can clearly see what you're responding to.
Any time you need help navigating this site, feel free to send a Private Message to me or Orvet or MillerBros or Gino. We're here to help.

I wondered how you did that but felt it was too dumb a question to ask. "Welcome Sharpy"___Dave
