Nice Knives, Bargain Price

Somebody bought these two, apparently mint, Robeson pearl handled knives off Ebay this past week for $160.00. That's eighty bucks apiece.

One is a 3" 732167 whittler. 167's in bone and genuine stag are fairly common. Pearl, not so much.

The other is a 723647 MasterCraft candle-ended lobster with the bronze bearings on the tang end surfaces. Master blade beautifully etched with the "NEV-R-BIND OILESS BEARINGS" banner logo. A very premium knife. I've never seen a MasterCraft in this pattern.

Somebody got very lucky.

This photograph should expand times two.

You bet, I don't know anything about the price of Robeson knives but I know a good knife when I see it and a good deal too.
Very sweet knives, and I can't believe the condition.
How old would you say they are?

Definitely made before WWII and I'd guess 1930's.

I'd have to go back to the auction and check out the actual tang stamps.

MasterCraft knives were first introduced in 1929.

Addendum:

The MasterCraft's stamp is ROBESON / ShurEdge / ROCHESTER without the "N.Y.". Tom Kalcevic, in Knives Can Talk!, dates that stamp 1922 - 1939.

The seller did not show a clear pic of the whittler's stamp, but the "ShurEdge" is in script, so it's
pre-WWII.

The only other pearl handled MasterCraft knife, of any pattern, that I've ever seen is a little equal-end penknife I own, a 723643.

I have added the information to my computer for future reference, thanks. Good information and great little knives.

Wow, those are beauties and look at the fire in that pearl!
I normally don't like pearl handled knives, but those have some warmth to them that pearl usually lacks to me.
Thanks for posting the pics. That candle end lobster is just a great pattern no mater what the handles but with that pearl it is over the moon!
