All About Pocket Knives

Hello everyone I am new to collecting and starting off slow but really enjoying a new hobby although I can already see it's gonna be an expensive one

One of the first things I done was started doing research on Case XX which is where I am starting my collection and it seemed that every Google search I done that had any helpful information always led to this site lol and of course after looking in more depth realized that this is a very very resourceful site and what seems like some awesome helpful members.

I look forward to getting to know you folks better, be prepared I'm not afraid to ask for help lol but hopefully one day I can return the favors and help someone else out.

We like to think of ourselves as the friendliest knife site on the web.
We don't mind newbies asking questions because we were all newbies once too!

I don't collect Case knives per se, but a lot of guys here do and they are very knowledgeable.
If you learn to use the search function that will be helpful for you in locating topics of interest to you.
Also there is a tutorial on posting pictures which be helpful to you. We host our own pictures here on AAPK you don't need a picture hosting service, in fact you can't use them here on AAPK. The reason is we want the pictures stay in the topic so people can refer to them years from now when they're doing research.

We love pictures so be sure to post lots of them.

Edit: Decided that comment needed a brief explanation of my opinion on Case collecting.

Case knives are heavily collected so there is a bunch of competition.
Case has been making knives for a looong time so there are a lot of knives out there to collect. I think, if you stay on that course, at some point you may want to specialize.
Since Case is such a popular knife to collect and there are quite a few which are considered valuable, counterfeiting is very common so knowledge is essential for a Case collector. (as it is for all knives but I think more so for Case)

Howdy Slomo, ! I kinda' started out thinkin' Case was the one and only when I was a kid, but it didn't take too long to get "corrupted". All knives are good, even the bad ones . Jerry is 100% right on there being fakes out there and they get exposed quite often on AAPK, that makes them "good" in the sense of being a learning tool. It's interesting what some of the AAPK bunch does with a counterfeit knife and then the cheap imports are always an issue. When you have one, you can give it to a youngster and they maybe fortunate enough to lose it. Hope you enjoy your stay at AAPK!

Welcome. Glad to have you here. Ask all the questions you want - this is a great place to learn, with lots of helpful folks willing to share knowledge. Maybe you can avoid some of the mistakes I made when starting out, before this site existed (before PCs and before Al Gore invented the Internet )!
