All About Pocket Knives

I recently acquired two knives that I know very little about. The Genella is a smaller knife about 3". Appears to be well made. Locks up tight. Good action, etc. Looks custom however the fact that it is serial number to at least 1000 indicates to me that it is not. Can anyone share anything about this knife. Who is Genella? Can't find in any of my books.

The second knife is a Bargeon. A larger knife at about 5". At first glance reminds me of a Hubertus. Also very nice knife. Great stag. Locks up tight. Gimping in the liners. I believe it is French but don't know for sure. Any info you can share with me on this maker. Also what does INOX mean?

The first knife is from Charles Genella. "Charlie Genella was the owner of Hixon Knife Shop in Hixon, Tennessee. Until his passing several years ago, he was a mainstay in the knifeshow community, serving as Treasurer for the National Knife Collectors Association, and assisting in the production of many regional shows." Judging from the handles and shield, I'm going to guess the knife was made by Queen.

Old Genella Knife "Choo Choo Knife Show Burnt Bone Lock Back". Real nice burnt jigged bone handle scales. Polished surgical stainless steel clip point blade etched "CHOO CHOO KNIFE SHOW - MAY 1980". Tang stamped "GENELLA 1978 - SURGICAL STEEL". Thumb jimping on the spine of the blade. Brass liners and handle pins. Nickel silver bolsters and inlaid bow tie shield. The front bolster is stamped with the serial number "0578". Aluminum lined lanyard hole. Awesome old lock back pocket knife by Charles Genella.
The second knife looks European to me (it's the stag) but we need other opinions from people far smarter than me.

The other is French and INOX is the name for "stainless steel "

As Wiseguy told you and you guessed, it is French. The full name is Gimel Bargeon.

Thanks for the information and the links. Great story. I'm fairly impressed with the quality of the Bargeon knife. Don't see them around knife shows too much. Are they collectible? Still in production? Any way to determine date of manufacture?
