Imperial Knife Co.

Imperial Knife Co. was once the largest manufacturer in the world. The Co. made as many as 10,000 knives per day. The one knife that I am interested in is the pocket knife that had a car key blank as the second key. The handle was a plastic kind of material. It was used as an advertisement or promotion gimmic. I'm trying to build the history of these knives. Does any one know more? Dates when they started, ended?

Yes. Some like that. Others had car dealership names and car logos. Others were called gentleman's knives. they were 2 blades plus the car key, and were gold leafed. I have a bunch of them, but I'm wondering about the manufacture dates. I'm not really a knife collector, just these knives to go with mt Chevy.

If the "U.S.A." on the stamp is vertical, the knife was made between 1946-1988.
If the "U.S.A." is horizontal it is a pre-war knife.
Many of these knives were "Tu-Tone"; as Miller Bro`s is. I have been able to track
the Tu-Tone knives (not necassarly the key knives) back to 1953 so far. Have also
herd them rumored to "match your car".
