All About Pocket Knives

have the Washington jacks been released? I didnt see them anywhere. I see a couple on ebay, but none at any distributor sites. have they been released and all gone ? I just started collecting gec, so im not in the know yet.

From what I've been told, they were pretty much sold out before they were shipped to the dealers.

that's what I was afraid of. so where is the best place to keep abreast of these in the future things and get the jump?

I'm the wrong person to ask about that. I too was in the dark as to the availability of the #77, so I sent Barry (GunstockJack) a message asking about them. He told me they were sold out before they finished making them. I asked if he would keep an eye out for one and later received an email letting me know one of his customers had backed out and the knife was available, did I want it. So I kinda lucked into picking one up.

These knives came out as a SFO for Charlie Campagna. I know collectorknives had a preorder list going.

yep. I contacted greg at tsa and collectorknives. kinda got an idea as to get the jump on these things. keeping up to date on their blogs is necessary.

Same here.... All the SFO´s seem to go quite quickly these days. Got to hunt it down on secondary sites....

Very true Frank! I'm over here in the States and can't keep up with it. It's like a constant race. Makes me tired.

Yes it is Jerry. Relatively so.

I'm not sure how I feel about those covers. I might be swayed one way or the other if I had one in hand. Pictures, no matter how good, just don't tell the whole story.

As you see in my earlier post, the only choice I had was with Cocobolo covers. I'm not a wood handle guy but I bought it anyway because I was enthralled with the knife. In hand, I find the Cocobolo diminishes the knife and it's very pedestrian. I think different handles (maybe the right jigged bone or abalone, not India Stag though) would make it spectacular. JMO

Course I wanted the Autumn bone but they went quick. So my second choice was the polished stag which is basically bone, plain and simple. But it has some character to it and I'm very happy with it. I figure it will gain some interesting patina over time.

You may find one for sale on BF but they are gone in minutes. I managed to snag 4 of them. Would post a pic but they are oiled and put up for storage. If you want to make a comparison to an old knife look up the Schrade 2OT. It is amazing how Charlie and GEC brought these back to life. I have also seen them on the bay but pricey.

Yep they're still going for what I consider big money on eBay right now. Originally a
little over a hundred but crazy money on the secondary auction sites now. If you still want one, be patient and in time you might snag one for close to original money.
