All About Pocket Knives

gents, im new to collecting. ive decided that vintage robesons are among my favorites. I managed to get a couple so far. take a look at this ebay offering and tell me how appropriate or inappropriate it is priced. I want to be educated on the value of these old Robeson's. what would you all pay for this knife?

I have yet to see this seller offer anything at an even close to reasonable price. This knife is no exception.

thanks wayne. thats what I thought. in your opinion. is this a 120.00 dollar knife?

Everyone has an opinion. That does look like a very nice knife but not a particularly hard to find or unusual pattern that would command a premium. I would think that at $120 you would be within reason.

i personally would not pay over $60 for that knife..........
and i like it ...........

That particular knife has nice bone, but it looks like the tang stamps have been damaged from rough cleaning.

ok guys here's one I bought for 27.00 dollars. I can take it so be honest. how did I do? I need to learn

Looking a little closer and at all the pics I would agree. The master blade is significantly short. I don't think I would care to own the knife given that.

I do think yer right on what it would sell for on ebay. ...i would "GUESS" it would go around $80-$120 ....def not sayin not worth $120 to someone,like you ma friend,just not me ....then again i am SURPRISED almost daily by ebay ending prices

I agree with everyone above.

At first glance, the 056 jack looks great, but it has been cleaned, the master clip is short.

The only thing it really has going for it is that beautiful Robeson bone, but $265.00 is a lot to pay for a pair of pretty handles, even if "all proceeds go to charity".

The strawberry bone jack you bought for twenty-seven dollars was a true bargain.

I would never buy anything from that seller for more than 30% of the asking price, if that. JMO

That little barehead jack looks like an 026 pattern. They were included as the boy's knife in a boxed Father & Son set in the 1950's. The father's knife was a 253 pattern two blade senator with lined bolsters. Both knives had strawberry bone handles.

I have both the knives in mint condition, but I have never seen one of the boxes, with or without the knives.
