So what does the "R" stand for on this knife gang?

R is for Red
5 is for Stag
2 is the number of blade
25 1/2 is the pattern number

This is my guess.

I should've clicked on your link to see more pictures. Sigh. :roll:

Darrell is on the money...the R is for RED stag. The stag is colored and torched slightly (I believe) to get that color. There was a Red Stag Collection, or group of stag scaled knives, issued in 1997.
