All About Pocket Knives

I'm a knife newb, and these are new purchases. I do have old TL-29s and Camillus Scout knives, but I had to grab these!

I don't have many yellers but I did recently pick up a nice 6 dot 47 with NO cracks!

I thought there for a minute Ken (justold52) was back. That man does have a thing for yellow knives.

He's still around. I see he stopped by last week on Wednesday, even though he hasn't posted since Christmas of last year.

I don't really care for knives with bling (on this one the gold washed blades and numbered bolsters) and commemorative engraving (unless it's from an event I was part of). However, I did buy this Case JW Trapper from a pawnshop to have an example of new grind blades in my Case collection. OH

That is the first ivory knife I ever bought;somewhere around 1970.It is a 3 blade swell center whittler pattern stamped on all blades,"IXL George wostenholm Celebrated Cutlery"(The master blade is stamped,"IXL George Wostenholm Sheffield").The mark side scale has an almost perfectly symmetrical pattern in the ivory and the shield is engraved "S.N.M. 1870".
The small blade I at first thought had been broken and re-shaped but upon close inspection it was noted that the nail mark;although tiny is full.I believe this blade was used to trim the ends from cigars.I have another small congress with a near identical blade that dates to the 1840's.
The blades have this wonderful brownish gray patina that seems to be typical of early IXL knives.If I recall correctly I think I paid $25 for it back then;a lot of money for a well worn knife.

Apparently owning yellow handled knives must be pretty forgettable - here's a few more of mine. OH

Thanks Ray. That's a much loved old survivor and the Ivory has developed a beautiful patina only available from years of handling.

My one and only yellow knife. And this is the only one that I've cut myself on, so far!

If you are referring to the coffin shaped multi-blade it is a champagne pattern made by Eloi Pernet of France.Pernet is best known for the knives made by splitting an old French coin in half and installing small blades and fitting the two halves back together again.
They make some very high end knives and other items of cutlery.I have besides that knife a pair of stag handled poultry shears and a letter opener/scissors set that has the handles of the scissors fancy filed.The fit and finish of these items is second to none.

Case XX Sodbuster

The Carl Schliepper 3 eye stockman is a full 4 3/4 inches closed, and the CASE fishing knife is MUCH bigger than the average fishing knife. Both are very rare, and are celluloid instead of Delrin.
Another one in celluloid, a Schrade Walden 4 inch stockman made for Keen Kutter.
