All About Pocket Knives

Any idea when the #99LB Wall Street might hit the market? I saw the Antique Green Jig Bone version on the GEC website and got a warm fuzzy feeling all over.

Not sure when. I saw the drawings for them and it didn't do much for me, But the pics on GEC's blog of the ebony ones sure got me! Looking really classy in ebony!

According to Barry aka GunstockJackknives.com he told me he already has some of those and more to deliver tomorrow. I'm buying one of each of the Autumn bone versions. 1 Clip and 1 Spear point.

Perry -- No Wharncliffe in the Autumn bone version?

That's true Jerry, although it will be offered in the Tidioute jig bone and ebony versions. I believe I just saw one or 2 on Gunstockjacksknives.com aka Barry's site. But no Wharnie in Autumn bone.

Jerry, apparently I miss spoke on the Wharnie offerings. I just noticed on Mike's site that he has a listing for pre ordering the wharnies in smooth autumn bone .We will see what happens.

Just scored my Spear point from Barry, with the Clips being delivered to him on Monday. Ooh it's gonna have lots of red in it too!

And here it is! Beautiful in every way. Fit and finish are spot on all around. No gaps and smooth delivery of the opening and closing.

How's the pull on it?

Really easy on the pull, with the spear point, you don't even need the nick to assist.

Very good looking knife. I put it on my x-mas wishlist.

Well if Santa brings ya one, you'll like the thin profile, the weight as it is perfectly balanced in the hand and the size at 3 3/4 in closed length.

I don't like the hard pull on many of the GECs I have had, but if this has an easy pull and a Wharncliffe blade I might be interested in getting one for a user.

The only thing that throws me off is the straight blocky look of the handle.
Since this will be a user, it is important to me that it fits comfortably in my hand.
I just won't use an uncomfortable knife!

Has anyone used this knife yet?

I would not think any lockback would have a strong pull. You've handled a lot more knives than I have, have you ever run into a lookback nail buster?

Dale, I can only speak to the clip and spear that I own and both are very easy on the pulls.

I trust you when you say it is an easy pull, I am more concerned about the comport of the handle.
I know handles can be deceptive, but that handle seems so square and boxy.
Is it comfortable to use?


I have knives I think look perfect that are uncomfortable to use and others that look like I wouldn't like them but turn out to be favorites.
I guess it mostly has to do with how it fits my hand.

Yeah Dale, I will say that the 99s seem more square than some others but very well balanced in the palm of my hand. I know your hands are a bit bigger than mine. Nice weight in the butt end of the knife handle. That being said, also is a pretty thin knife overall though. I also will tell you that the scales, where they meet the liners are curved and not squared at all. This being the case with the Autumn bone anyway, that's my only personal experience.

Dale, just to be clear, there is a small squared area at the very top of the handles. Maybe 1/16 of an inch squared.

Say, when is the Oregon show? As I recall it's in Eugene, but It may have changed. I'm gathering the 99Wall Streets just for collector purposes. Same as I do for the 72LBs and the 42LBs. I'll see if I can post the 421114LBs.

Nope, it is still in Eugene and will be April 11th & 12th next year.
