All About Pocket Knives

I recieved a henkles lockback in for reapair the other day. The thing is mint and has never been used, the problem is it wasn't locking open, I figured the locking tab wasn't properly fitted from the factory. When I disassembled it (warning, those henkles guys really used tight fitting pins!) I was quite surprised at what I discovered. The entire locking tab had been worn away! Now remember, the knife hasn't been used or carried, just opened and closed as show I am assuming, little to no lubricant was used on the action over the years and I highly doubt this locking bar was tempered hard enough. If the owner chooses to have me make a new lock bar to replace the worn one I plan to test it to see how soft the old one was tempered. Really a shame for such a nice old knife.
