Four of the Red Etch Ken. Not four of the 523-5 pattern. I would love to have all four of them but my pocketbook won't be allowin it.
Especially with the engraved pommel, never seen those before. Kelley

That engraving must have been custom done
I am an engraved bolster nut on the folders
That is gorgeous on that 523-5
I would rather have that 523-5 I sent ya than a stock one, not engraved
Like El Lobo said, this kind of thing is

I think you are right Stagman, it must be a custom job. I've never heard of the Red Letters having factory engraving on them. I know there is a set of Blue Scroll folders that do.
I agree, this is one heluva forum and Bryan does a great job. Kelley

The engraving is certainly aftermarket, none of the fixed blades in any of the stag sets were engraved. Frankly, the engraving isn't very nice on that knife. Since the butt is alumiunum, you could likely buff it off. It would change the shape of the butt a bit.

Thanks for confirming that Perry. I didn't think the fixed had any from the factory. Are you of the opinion that any aftermarket engraving is a bad deal on those knives, or that this particular one is just a bad job? Thank you for your opinion, Kelley

Well, it's not a horrible job but certainly not David Perdue. IMHO I don't think that engraving will enhance a knife like that. Most that are collecting them will not want anything other than the original.

Thanks again Perry and BR for your opinion. I will watch this auction closely as the price is already fairly high with 8 days to go. I thought the engraving looked pretty good but I haven't seen David Perdue's work either. My main concern would be to get one like this and not be able to match the set. (Which is my goal eventually, to have them all) Thanks guys for your comments. I will always be open to thoughts and opinions from people on this forum!
