need info on George Wostenhom I*XL

I am looking for information on a tang stamp,,date. I*XL on the blade deep,George Wostenholm, England. It has no oil the joint on knife. It is a one blade lock back with bone handls.
Im thanking it is 1971 to 1978 from info I have found on it.

I think you are about 70 years off on your estimate.I would say it was likely made around 1900 or slightly after.The fact that it is stamped,"England" means it was possibly made for export sometime after 1891 when the Dingley(?) Tariff was enacted in the USA. Nice knife! The blade looks very full and the scales seem to be in excellent shape.

Thats is exactly why I was asking,thanks.
It has one small crack near the bolster and pin. The blade is nice and full but it has been sharpened but not very much. I got it at a flee-market, I gave $35.00.

You can't go wrong for that price! I see the crack you are referring to;seems like a very minor flaw to me anyway.Here is one of mine that is very similar except for the match striker nail mark and the lack of "England" in the stamp.I believe this one dates around 1880.
