Third only has a partial marking, but one heck of a shaver!

The only full hollow I really enjoy shaving with is a Clauss. They take and hold a wonderful edge.

The razor on the left in the lower picture looks like a GRAEF to me.

I've got what I think is a salesman's sample and it looks just like the razor you posted with the the exception that mine has MOP covered tang and a round point. Graef made razors and marked them for whoever bought them. Haven't tried to hone mine.

Hey Scott, they do a great job shaving, especially the Clauss. I find myself reaching for it the most.

Thanks Willie that could be it. Ive been using the hollow grounds, as im still a little new to shaving with a straight and they seem a little easier to learn on. Ive been wanting to try out a heavy blade and I found this 7/8 wade & butcher wedge a few weeks ago. Id like to polish it up but itll take off the etching im afraid. Ive tried honing it up, but every time I take the 12k to it for some reason I take the edge off. Im thinking now im just gonna send it out for a cleaning and honing. Cant wait to try it out.

Can't ell what the etch is from your pic, nor can I see the hone wear. That is one of the later W&B's made after 1891 or so. Ought to be an awesome shaver if you can get the kinks out.

Before you send it out, some of those old Sheffields just won't go a 12K edge unless you tape the spine and get the bevel back down closer to where it originally was. If you're not taping the spine, the bevel is so shallow/long that the steel just won't support itself.

I'd try a couple of layers of electricians tape on the spine and reset the bevel with that and then try taking it out to the 12K. You'll have to change your tape a few times, but it should go fairly easy as your not removing as much steel.

Once you get one of those older grinds right, I think you'll enjoy the results. That old Sheffield steel will be a bit harsh fresh off the stones but after a few stroppings it'll mellow out. At least mine always seem to.
