All About Pocket Knives

Here's a semi-recent acquisition . . . a Kershaw N.1050.

I haven't seen one of these elsewhere. It has nickel bolsters (probably what the "N" stands for) and the scales appear to be cocobolo or some other beautifully grained reddish hardwood.

Just thought I'd show it off and see if anyone else had ever seen one.

No I have'nt seen this one A&E but I sure do like what I'm seeing.. Very nice..

I just added it to my want list. If it is more than 4" closed.

I have a strong feeling that it is well made like the Coleman knives.
Do you have one that is made in Japan? If not get one.

This one is 4.75" closed, fit & finish near perfection, extremely well made. It is from Japan . . . check out the last pic.
I just wish I could find out more about it. Not much info on it anywhere. Any Kershaw experts out there?

I was talking about the Japan made Coleman are well made too.

Ah, I don't have any Colemans! BTW, you're fine with your words . . . I'm just not so good with my understanding!

First understand that I make no claim to be a Kershaw expert, however, I did manage a cutlery store in the 1980's about 30 miles from Kershaw's headquarters, (then in Wilsonville, OR). Needless to say they were one of our best sellers.

I think this knife came out after I left the cutlery business in 1992. It looks like a Cocobolo version of the 1050 Folding Field knife.

You might give them a call, (503) 682-1966. I am sure they would be able to tell you about your knife. Kershaw is tops in customer service.

A&E; That knife is a real Handfull! Very Nice.

I'm sorry for talking about this again - but I've called Kershaw . . . they're in Portland (not too far from me!) and nobody seems to know anything about this knife. I've never seen another one (I've seen plenty of the 1050's with brass bolsters and phenolic handles) but haven't seen this variation. Perhaps I just don't know how to do the research but I'd really like to find out a little bit more about this knife. Can anyone help me out? Thanks . . . and I don't know . . . maybe this should be moved over to the Q&A section.

You might call Jennifer at Columbia River Knife and Tool. She was my customer service rep at Kershaw back in the 1980s and early 1990s. CRKT was formed from people who worked for Kershaw, Benchmade & Gerber. Last time I was at CRKT Jennifer was working in the office. I think she was taking orders like she did at Kershaw.

Jennifer might remember when your knife was made. I recall Kershaw making special editions of certain knives, I just don't remember that one. Sure is a beauty though.
