All About Pocket Knives

This came in the mail today from Bill Horn, great guy to talk to and work with. I just hope don't bend his ear to long when I call. They got here REALLY FAST!Thanks Bill!

This is a 2006 Primative Bone From GEC's Northfield knives. I'm real pleased with it, great colors in the bone. I really like the bone on this knife, sure is one of my favorites already.

On these they did put the etch on the spey blade. No Model 73 Scout, 1 of 250, but it does have a 1-36 engraving near the 2006 tang stamp. Another nice one from GEC.



I also bought a Canal Street Cutlery Amber Bone 2005-2006 first year anniversary set with a display case. It contains a Congress and a Fiddleback Whittler and both have 2 shields. One is the regular CS shield and the other is a First Year shield. Makes a nice addition to a first year mint set and a Red Stag mint set. I told my wife we need this one to go with the others. How could she say no to that?

That's a beautiful knife Hukk. I just purchased my first GEC knife 30 minutes ago. UnXlled primative bone. I can hardly wait! Been watchin the posts back and forth and came to the conclusion the only way I will ever be satisfied is to own one and judge for myself! I'll post my knife and my comments when it gets here. What is the general consensus on the stress lines in the primitive bone? Opinion any different on those introduced by the pin placement stress?

To me they are really nice examples and the lines just add character; but I already know there is going to be a lot of complaints from those that don't feel the same.

Just wondering what your opinion is on the subject?

Hey Mike, they don't bother me as long as they are not caused by the pins.

I think the lines are just fine and add beauty and charactor. Just as you see in giraffe bone or mammoth ivory, the lines are charactoristic of the bone itself and not a workmanship flaw at all. One of mine has a line through it and it is completely stable. A crack caused by pin installaton would not be acceptable. One thought though, is how long has this bone been out of the ground. Long enough to be stable I would think.

The lines in the bone just add beauty, I would not like to see them look the same, that's the primary reason to use bone like this, because every piece is unique.
