All About Pocket Knives

I recently finished this for a customer. He had the bone handle from a knife steel, and this leftover knife. He wanted to see what I could do with it. I really enjoyed this, as it was something different.

I was not that taken with the look of the bone, so I put some color in it. Here's the finished product.

Did you use the steel liners or did you make new ones?

Your bolsters look great but I am really impressed with the amount of color you got in those old oil stained stag handles! They look MUCH better!

Pig - Yes, only a couple years on a regular basis.

Royal - sorry, I did not get a top down pic. My goal was to take the halves down as much as I could without losing to much of the bone's character. If I had to guess, no bigger around than a 1" dowel. The size fits nicely in the hand for the size of the blade itself. The knife was around 5" closed IIRC.

Jerry, I am not very far away from that. I have been gathering some raw stock to try one. I have been gathering some old interesting junkers to use for patterns. Now I just have to find some extra time...

Something a little different turned out to be something pretty spectacular. That's a beaut!

It's easy to see you have a gift for knife work and in short, you've arrived and are here to stay. This one is outstanding! If I could think of more nice things to say, I would.

That's very kind of you to say Glenn, but as you know there's no school for what we do and the repairmen here inspire us all and we all learn from each other. I'm just glad to be part of the mix.
