All About Pocket Knives

Any ideas on age and value of this razor. It's wicked sharp and in decent shape. Too bad the blade is chipped and there is a little pitting. Based on the patent date I am guessing it's pretty old....? Picked it up at a second hand store on a recent trip to Oregon. Thanks for any info and opinions.

Really nice razor with a great looking grind. I would guess it was made late thirties or earlier. Here are two Catts I have that I value at a ball park of $75 for the flowing hair and $50 for the "Gillette and Gleason" etch. They both have similar sculpting on the spines. If they were some generic brand and not Catts maybe 25% less. I would say your razor would be worth at least the better of these two. If it were mine I would consider taking that nick out of the edge keeping the edge straight. They did get sharpened down with use just like knife blades.

Couple more nice catts. Im really liking the work on the spines too. Ive never honed that concave grind before , but it could be done with some patience if you want to hone that nick out.

I'm thinking the 20's for that razor.
Interesting grind on it too. Made the blade more rigid so it shaved more like the older wedge style grinds.

Could possibly be honed out. Gonna get close to stabilizer at the heel, but it has some life left if you want to try use it. won't hurt the value and could possibly improve it if done correctly.

Covered tangs like that one have a tendency to get rust under the tang covers. Just something to look out for is the only reason I mentioned it.
