All About Pocket Knives

A few pics, eating up some bandwidth here. The mystery knife with wood handle is the kind of hardware that Schlieper seemed to export to former Europe colonies and trading partners in southeast asia and africa. Any guesses?

I don't collect GEs, but have accumulated a few. The toothpick shown is etched 'East Dallas Special', more evidence that foreign knife makers directed that all-american pattern to the USA market.. What gentleman in Berlin would want a knife with such a blade etch? Also posted is a pic of one of my Jim Bowie lockbacks. It's too cool a knife to not have in my pocket, and to horrify dedicated traditional pattern knife collectors, I've added a thumbstud. Also am showing a second lockback I have, along with that big, beautiful stag handled clasp knife. Love that blade shape. Only thing about one of these as a using knife is the carbon steel blades, which I absolutely detest. Note the spots on the thumbstud lockback.

I'm really drawn to the blade shape of the Bowies. It's enough like a Nessmuk to get my motor running.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that Schlieper 14 a farrier's hoof knife?

The bone toothpick is identical to the 1980 TKCA club knife with the exception of the blade etch. The TKCA knives came in a set of two, one stag and one bone. I think this knife was produced about the same time.

I'll end the mystery now. It's a latex tapping knife, from Southeast Asia (Thailand, to be precise). Some of the rubber tree plantation owners had different ways of scoring the trees, but all issued these to their 'coolies'. Battery powered ones are mostly used now.

Very interesting GE´s! I haven´t seen any one of them here in Germany yet.

I think both Jim Bowies are out of production. Both were also handled in MOP.

Here's a jumbo trapper 5 1/4" (toadsticker) by German Eye. I recently sold it on ebay. I've really enjoyed looking at all the pics you other guys have posted.
