All About Pocket Knives

The new 66 Slim (or Calf Roper Slim) is a great new pattern. Although built on the familiar 66 frame, this knife has a single backspring in pen knife configuration. It weighs in at a scant 2 ounces or less and practically disappears in the pocket. The blades are ground quite thin and so it should be an excellent slicer or small game skinner.

My favorite, the Saw Cut Red Bone model: The Saw Cut bone is only on the slim, and not the jack.

How do the blades sit in the well? Any potential for developing blade rub? Just asking because that is kind of a pet peeve of mine. Either way I will surely try to pick one of these up, as I love the 66 frame. It rides fantastic in the pocket as a two spring knife, I can only imagine how it must "disappear" as a single spring knife!

The blades sit very low in the frame when closed, and are closely fitted in the well. I wouldn't be at all surprised if some have a little blade rub but so far I haven't noticed any. The blades are ground thin, so they will flex and could rub when opening.

Definitely not purple.

was the white owl a 66 too , or a different pattern ?

The White Owl is a 68 pattern like the Pony Jack. It is an equal end frame and the 66 is a serpentine frame; they are very similar in size and blade combos.

3 1/2 inches.

I trust the 66 slim has the same (main) blade profile as the 66 mink skinner? But for the nail nick placement they look the same.

Yes, the main blade is very similar to the Mink Skinner.

Should make a good size to carry, Barry I heard maybe the new Dixie Stockman might not be available in Northfield ? any word ?

There will be Northfield 82's produced in Indian Red Jig Bone, African Blackwood, and Burnt & Natural Stag. The Tidioute models will be in Antique Black Jig Bone, Maroon Linen Micarta, and Osage Orange Wood. That is my information, at least, but things can change and handle materials could be added.

on there web site is a SFO 66 Yellow, that will be pretty !
