Help/opinions - Hoffritz Voss single blade

OK guys. I know NOTHING about fixed blades. All my reading so far has been on folders. I've always really liked the "dagger" shape double edged blades, but there's so much trash and cheaply made repos out there and so many of the authentic well-made blades are out of my price range (which admittedly is much better suited to the repo range).
SO, fast forward to yesterday and I'm looking for maybe a boot knife and I ran across this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400709983015?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
A little Googling said the Voss name was good, but Hoffritz is all over the map - seems just about anything or anyone can slap the Hoffritz name on their blade. What it means I have no clue. So, short story long, is this a decent blade? I have no idea how big it is (that's what she said), if it's full tang, but I like the look and it seems to be a good deal now (if some yahoos don't run up the price on me).
Opinions? I'd really like to add a decent fixed blade to my collection and all I have right now are a couple cheap repos and some dive knives. As always, much appreciated!

Hey, at least it's not made in "The Land Which Shall Not Be Named" or by that world famous Near Eastern cutler, Paki Stan. There are plenty of quality fixed blades out there for under $50 unless you are looking specifically for a dagger pattern.

A little too military for me. The thing I like about the folders I collect are the stag, wood and bone handles. I like that natural older feel, but a lot of the fixed blade stag type knives are bowie knives with huge thick blades which, for whatever reason isn't as appealing to me as a slim double edged dagger. Case makes an interesting boot knife I see for $65 or so I may pick up, but it'd be nice to have something larger like this, too, as long as it's not, well, you know.

I haven't seen many blades, fixed or folding with either the Hoffritz or Voss name on them that weren't at least decent quality. The combination of names on this knife along with "England" is a bit confusing but the knife looks very similar to other daggers I have seen that were English made. All of which were good or better quality. This is a pretty nice little knife and the seller is very reasonable on shipping.

Thanks for the input! Now I have someone to blame when my wife says, "WHAT?!? ANOTHER knife?"

Ha!! Same thing my wife told me! Does your wife mention guitars and Zippo lighters too?

Nah, she's all about horses (though I DO play some guitar. Coincidence? I think not.)
You can have her for a decent GEC knife....or do I have to post this in the "Trading" section?

Fine. Laugh if you must. Offer still stands. I've been around the block and through the wringer.
I'll even take a Rough Rider...or well made safety pin?

Anyway, if it's not been said yet, welcome to AAPK.

It seems you are going to fit in perfectly and are probably a real good candidate for the chat room.

Just don't let Puma Pants into your pocket or knife pile!

Thanks, man. I've met a couple people already and even bought a knife from a member, but yeah, from the conversations I've had here so far, I think I've found a group of like-minded individuals. As a newbie, it's nice having a bunch of knowledgeable guys to bounce questions off of and not be treated like an idiot and that have a sense of humor to boot.
I don't want to spoil any surprises, but y'all should be seeing something new here fairly soon. Bryan's working out the details. Hope you like it.
...and you completely lost me on the Puma Pants reference.....

That would be MrBlister - Puma Pants, Willie Remer, etc.

I am guessing, just guessing mind you, that both were manufactured off-shore.

Yeah, when they don't list country of manufacture and absolutely no reference can be found online, it's a safe bet. Thanks anyway.
How about the Mora? I know it's not U.S. made (Switzerland or some place where it's really cold all the time), but I read in one of the forums that it's supposed to be a decent quality knife. That's the problem with some of these manufacturers, the knives LOOK nice and all, but you bend the blade trying the slice an apple, and the handles fall apart and the paint peels and the metals are cast, etc.
Any direction or names would be appreciated and save me scouring time on eBay and I won't have to keep posting junk-ola on this fine upstanding forum. Just nothing too military-looking. I don't even own any camouflage to go with it...

I looked at the hotlinks given for the "MORA" knife, and other knives by that seller, also with the MORA tag, and I do not believe that any of his wares are legitimate quality knives. They all scream Pakistan. Mora of Scandinavia is a high quality reputable company and they do not sell anything that even remotely resembles these P.O.S. items. Just my opinion.

Yeah, just too fancy, huh? I did the same looking around and found the Mora site and all the knives on there were very basic working blades, nothing like these "supposed" Mora blades. I wonder how they can get away with using the Mora name?

So Thanks! for the warning. I'll be passing this one by. I wonder if there's a way to find what the deal is with these "over the top" decorated things?
