All About Pocket Knives

Here's a couple of toothpicks I rehandled recently.
The Utica was a shadow bolstered knife with off-gassing cell handles. I used the tip of a domestic cow horn to make new handles.
The Kent had shrinky dink handles. I made my own version of a glitter celluloid, using clear acrylic sheet. I plan to do a little more experimenting to see if I can create different patterns using this process.
This is a Remington that I finished up for a customer last week. Broke my heart to have to send this one back. The slabs came from a stag round off of an old tool handle. Probably about 100 years old. That's the natural color, no toasting!

The cow horn looks great and the homemade glitter cell is nice too, but I really like the look of the old stag.
I don't know of a way to create that old look in stag except just by using it for years!
That is a nice one, I can see why you didn't want to send it back.

I guess i'll never understand how anyone could really dislike the toothpicks. They have such a long history and for me, they fit my hand like a glove. To each their own of course, but ever since I held my first one, it was like shaking hands with an old friend. I love all pocket knives, but it's the toothpick that toots my whistle loudest. It doesn't hurt that many of them are fishing related either, which is another great love.

I got tagged with one by a mugger years ago; it kind of soured me on them. Especially the yellow-handled ones.
