All About Pocket Knives

Here are three Schrades I finished recently & shipped off to my customer. He was very pleased.

The 152OT, Sharpfinger, has stripped ebony handles & mosaic pins.

The 94OT also has stripped ebony handles. I put a new spey blade in this knife as the old one was messed up. Both original blades had a lot of file or grinder marks on them. (see pic)

The 194OT has stag handles. I retained the Swinden Key system on this on this knife.

These were fun to make!

I like the looks of all but the Sharpfinger the wood grain came out like an Artist at work.

TWO tumbs up, I like them a lot also. Did you get the striped ebony at the knife show. I wish I had bought a couple more sets of that. First guy that I've seen with stabilzed snakewood for sale. His process did make it gain a little weight.

Thanks Tank. I guess I started a couple years ago. It is a lot of fun for a retirement hobby.

Great place for exotic wood. I just picked up enough Red Palm to make about 15 sets of scales. Stabilized end grain, my favorite way to use Red Palm or Black Palm, Red Palm will come out with finer spots. Had my criteria, at least 1.5 inches wide.

I like how you used the striped ebony, came out very nice, some use it without any thought about the knife and in that case, it will not come out good like yours did.

That was an early one I made. I used the "Mark" setting (AC current) instead of the "Etch" setting (DC current). I realized later that I should use the DC setting on all the carbon steel blades so that the patina doesn't obscure the Marking.

I think that knife is carbon steel, IIRC.

Normally, I (being a snarly old wolf[e]), would take some umbrage at your signature line. But, I understand planning wisely, being prepared, and rooting for the underdog.

That said, I can assure you that we also will be prepared for such a confrontation with our wooly friends...and that the outcome will be that we wolves will be slightly vexed as to what Merlot, and what flavor of mint jelly, we shall be serving with the lamb.

What is so funny is that I was signing on to change the sig line & I saw that there was a post to that thread!

I will try to come up with new sig line that will offend everyone equally, wolves, sheep & sheeple!
