All About Pocket Knives

Hi folks! Haven't been around to visit in a while, WOW y'all are posting some nice projects!!
I found a couple of extra barlow scales lying around the shop today without bolsters, so I figured I'd see how the pattern would look as a single blade shadow knife. Here it is with red linen micarta covers:

That is one new knife I just mught buy!
What is the steel in that blade?

Dale, the blade is 14-4CrMo, a high end stainless from Latrobe. It's right on par with 154CM. Don't know if it'll ever see its way to production in this form, although to me it's ideal as a tough user AND practically unnoticeable in your pocket. Maybe I'll just have to do my own SFO

Phil, you would buy any canal street.....
I, on the other hand, would not.
But that is the best looking canal street i have seen!
I do like the barlow by CS, hoping to handle some at Blade this year
(yanno, that Tom hasn't already bought...)

Thanks Eric, I thought that might be what the blade was.
I don't think I have used a knife with that steel.
Does it hold an edge as well as the Canal Street D-2?
I have a pinch lock & a Canittler that are users, and both hold an edge extremely well, as well as the early Japanese ATS-34 from my experience. Some of the more recent Japanese knives I have used with ATS-34 were not as good as the first ones I got.

I am really curious about the 14-4CrMo, I will have to try one. I think you told me once it was better than the D-2.
Let me know if you make your own line of SFOs like that one, it is a work horse for sure!

Ah, that looks too good! Great color on that handles as well.
