You normally replace it, right? Well it's a shame to tear 100+ year old ivory off to replace it, so just add bolsters.

Keep as much as possible on an original knife..

Was it broke when you got it or when replacing that blade?

Nice save on that. I assume you disassembled the knife to put the bolsters on?

it was already broke, probably happened the same time someone broke the blade off.

yes it was disassembled for the operation

I have a few pearl knives like that...I have often thought of adding bolsters to them.

This is good inspiration.
